Ask clients for Google reviews

ZenGrow & ZenAIBeginner4 minutesUpdated August 29, 2026

Turn on review requests in Settings under Reviews, pick your business from the Google search box, then open any job and choose Actions, then Request Review. Show the QR code or send the link. A thumbs up sends the client to your Google review page. A thumbs down opens a private comment box that only your team sees, in the Reviews inbox.

Your best marketing is a happy client who just watched your technician do good work. The review request feature turns that moment into a Google review, and catches the unhappy moments privately before they become public ones.

How it works

WorkZen mints a short link and QR code for a job or client. The client opens a small page with your branding and one question: How did we do?

  • Thumbs up records the response and sends them straight to your Google review page, one tap from the star rating box.
  • Thumbs down opens a short comment box. The feedback lands in your Reviews inbox, your team gets a notification, and nothing goes to Google.

Every request, response, and resolution is tracked in the Reviews inbox, so you always know who was asked, who answered, and which feedback still needs a call back.

Setting it up

  1. Open Settings in the sidebar, then the Reviews card.
  2. Turn on Enable review requests.
  3. Under Your Google Listing, type your business name into Find your business on Google and pick your listing. Happy clients will land on this listing's review page.
  4. Optional: use Custom review URL if you want thumbs ups to go somewhere else, like a Facebook page. When set, it wins over the Google listing.

Sending a request

Open a job and choose Actions, then Request Review. The window shows a QR code and a short link:

  • On site: show the QR on your phone, the client scans it and answers on theirs.
  • Remote: use Copy Link or Share to send it by text or email.

Asking again for the same job reuses the same link until the client answers, so a reprinted QR never goes stale.

Working the inbox

Open Reviews in the sidebar. The stats bar shows where every request stands: Awaiting Response, Went to Google, Review Confirmed, Needs Attention, and Resolved. Negative feedback sorts to the top.

Open Resolve on a piece of feedback to see the client's phone, email, and address next to their jobs and visits, so you can call without leaving the page. Log what you did in the resolution note. For thumbs ups, use Confirm Review once you see the review posted on your Google profile.

Making the page yours

On ZenAI, the Page Customization section in Settings, then Reviews, lets you set an accent color, replace the greeting, decide whether the technician's first name shows, and write the message clients see after leaving feedback, for example: "The owner will call you personally." Showing or hiding your logo and company name is available on every plan with the feature.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Turn the feature on

In the sidebar, open Settings, then the Reviews card. Turn on Enable review requests. The feature is off until you enable it, so nothing is sent before you are ready.

  2. 2

    Pick your business on Google

In the Your Google Listing section, type your business name in Find your business on Google and choose your listing from the results. That is the page happy clients will land on. No Google account connection is needed.

  3. 3

Request a review from a job

Open a job, choose Actions, then Request Review. A window opens with a QR code and a short link. Show the QR to the client on site, or use Copy Link or Share to text or email it.

  4. 4

The client answers with one tap

The page greets them with your logo and the technician's first name, then asks How did we do. Thumbs up takes them straight to your Google review page. Thumbs down opens a short comment box instead, and their feedback comes to you, not to Google.

  5. 5

    Work the Reviews inbox

Open Reviews in the sidebar. Negative feedback sits at the top marked Needs Attention. Open Resolve to see the client's contact details and job history, call them, and log a resolution note. For thumbs ups, use Confirm Review once their Google review appears.

Frequently Asked Questions

A thumbs down never sends the client to Google. Their comment lands privately in your Reviews inbox and your team is notified, so you can call and make it right first. The client can still review you on Google on their own, like anyone can, but you get the chance to fix things before that happens.
No. You only pick your business listing from a search box, the same way you search an address. WorkZen sends happy clients to that listing's public review page. There is nothing to authorize and no Google login involved.
A thumbs up is marked Went to Google in the Reviews inbox. When you spot the review on your Google profile, use Confirm Review to mark it Review Confirmed, so your counts reflect real posted reviews.
Yes. The Request Review window shows a QR code you can print or save. The same request keeps one link, so a reprinted code still points to the same place until the client answers.
On ZenAI, open Settings, then Reviews, and use Page Customization. You can set an accent color, write your own greeting, choose whether the technician's name shows, and set the message clients see after leaving feedback. Showing or hiding your logo and company name is available on all plans with the feature.
Review requests are available on ZenGrow and up. Page customization, like the accent color and custom messages, requires ZenAI.
The page follows your company language setting, so a French-speaking business greets clients in French. Any custom greeting you write is shown exactly as you wrote it.
