Control what invoices and estimates show clients

ZenGrow & ZenAIBeginner3 minutesUpdated August 7, 2026

Go to Settings > Document Appearance and toggle what each line item shows on your invoices and estimates: item photo, description, item code, quantity, and per-item prices. Hiding per-item prices still shows the full totals block, subtotal, discount, tax, and amount due.

Some shops sell itemized and transparent; others quote a lump sum and keep the math in-house. Document Appearance makes that a setting instead of an argument: one page controls what every invoice and estimate line shows your clients.

The toggles

Go to Settings > Document Appearance and flip what each line item displays:

ToggleShows
Item imageThe product photo from your price book next to each line
Item descriptionThe description under each item name
Item codeYour internal item code (SKU) on each line
QuantityHow many of each item
Prices per itemUnit price, tax, and line total on each row

Changes apply to your invoices and estimates everywhere the client meets them, including the online approval and payment pages.

The lump-sum look

Turning Prices per item off is the "one number" quote: clients see the work itemized (what's being done) but not priced line by line. The totals block always remains, subtotal, discount, tax, and the amount due, so the client is never guessing what they owe, only how it breaks down.

Tip

Pair Item image with a well-fed price book: estimates with product photos read like a proposal instead of a receipt, which is exactly the impression you want at approval time.
