Understand the AR Aging Report

All plansBeginner4 minutesUpdated August 23, 2026

Go to Reports > Accounts Receivable Aging, pick a date range, and click Run Report. Outstanding invoices are grouped into age buckets (Current, 1-30, 31-60, 61-90, and 90+ days) so you can see how old your unpaid money is and which clients to follow up with first.

Revenue tells you what you invoiced; AR Aging tells you what you have not been paid yet, and for how long. It is the report to open before deciding who gets a friendly reminder and who gets a phone call.

Run the report

Go to Reports > Accounts Receivable Aging. Pick a date range, choose a Group By if you want a different trend granularity, and click Run Report. Nothing loads until you do.

What the numbers mean

Four summary cards top the report:

CardWhat it counts
Total OutstandingEvery unpaid balance in the range
CurrentOutstanding but not yet past due
OverduePast the due date, any bucket
Avg Days OutstandingHow long invoices sit unpaid on average

Invoices are grouped into aging buckets by how far past due they are: Current, 1-30 Days, 31-60 Days, 61-90 Days, and 90+ Days. The older the bucket, the harder the money usually is to collect, so the right-hand buckets deserve your attention first.

The three tabs

  • Overview: the AR Balance Over Time trend, an Outstanding by Age chart, and Top Clients by Balance.
  • Details: an Invoice Details table with Invoice #, Client, Issue Date, Due Date, Days outstanding, and Balance Due. Sort by any column.
  • Breakdown: the Aging Bucket Breakdown and a Client Balance Breakdown, so you can see which clients hold your oldest balances.

Who can see it

Users need the financial reports permission. Admins have it by default; other roles depend on how you configured them in team permissions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Current invoices are outstanding but not yet past their due date. Everything in the other buckets (1-30, 31-60, 61-90, 90+ days) is measured from the due date, so a 31-60 invoice is one to two months overdue.
The report only counts unpaid balances, but partial payments leave a remainder. An invoice paid in part appears with its remaining Balance Due, not the original total.
No. Accounts Receivable Aging is available on every plan, including the free Zen plan, and so is the CSV export.
