Why can't I log in?

All plansBeginner4 minutesUpdated August 16, 2026

The login screen shows the same invalid email or password message for several different causes: a typo, a temporary lockout after too many attempts, or a suspended account. Try a password reset first; if the email never arrives, it may be going to a different address than you think.

The login screen shows one message, "Invalid email or password. Please try again.", for more than one problem. Here is how to tell which one you have.

1. The boring cause first

Check the email address, not just the password. Capitalization does not matter, but an old or secondary address does; if your company admin invited you on your work email, your personal one has no account. When in doubt, use Forgot Password?: if the reset email arrives, the address is right and only the password was wrong.

2. Too many attempts locks you out

After 10 failed password attempts, the account locks for 15 minutes, and the screen still shows the same invalid credentials message. If you have been hammering at it, stop, wait 15 minutes, and try once with a freshly reset password. Similarly, many rapid attempts from one office network can trip a short rate limit; a minute's pause clears it.

3. The reset email never arrives

The reset page always says the link was sent, even when no account matches, to avoid revealing which emails are registered. So "no email" usually means the address has no account: try the other address you might have signed up with. Check spam too, and note the reset link expires after 1 hour. Clicking Resend more than a few times a minute gets rate limited, so give it a moment between tries.

4. Stuck on the verification code screen

New accounts confirm their email with a 6-digit code. The code expires after 10 minutes and allows 5 attempts, then you need a fresh one via Resend (the cooldown between resends grows if you keep asking). Escape hatch: if your email is with Google or Apple, sign in with the Google or Apple button instead; it verifies your email automatically.

5. Google or Apple sign-in fails

The "Failed to sign in" toast usually means the sign-in popup was blocked or closed. Allow popups for WorkZen and try again. If you see "No account found for this email", there is no WorkZen account under that Google or Apple address; create one or log in with the email your admin actually invited.

6. None of that worked

If the password is definitely right and you are still refused, the account or the company may be suspended, which shows the same generic message on the login screen. At that point it is not solvable from the login page: contact your company admin, or if you are the admin, check your plan and billing status.

Frequently Asked Questions

Invitation links to set your first password are valid for 3 days. Ask your administrator to send a new invitation; there is nothing to fix on your side.
That is not a login problem; it is a role problem. Your account works, but your role limits what you see. Subcontractor accounts, for example, only see assigned visits and checklists. Ask an admin to review your role.
Yes. A successful reset signs you out of all devices, including the mobile apps, as a safety measure. Sign back in on each device.
