Track your team live on the map

Open Map and choose the Live tab, or turn on Show team members on the Visits tab to see techs and visits together. Techs appear as live dots while they are clocked in with GPS enabled on the WorkZen mobile app; no extra hardware is needed. Click a tech for their speed, last update, and what their day looks like. Live tracking is included with ZenGrow and up.

Live tracking is part of the Scheduling Map, which is rolling out now. If you do not see Map in your sidebar yet, it has not reached your account.

"Who is closest to this job?" is the question dispatchers ask fifty times a day. The Live tab answers it with a glance, and without buying a single piece of GPS hardware: the tech's phone is the tracker.

How techs appear

A tech shows on the live map while two things are true: they are clocked in, and GPS is enabled for them in the WorkZen mobile app. Clocking out removes them from the map on purpose, WorkZen does not track anyone off shift.

Each tech is a dot with their initials and a presence ring: green means their position updated in the last few minutes, amber means they have been idle a while, gray means offline. The list in the sidebar sorts active techs first.

What a tech's popup tells you

Click any tech, on the Live tab or anywhere their dot appears, and the popup shows more than a location:

  • Their movement: speed, or Stationary, and how long ago the position updated.
  • On site at a visit right now, or their next visit with the straight-line distance to it.
  • Progress: how many of today's visits they have completed.

That turns "there is a dot in Burnaby" into "that is Gus, he is 2.9 km from his 12:15, and he has done two of five."

One map for everything

You rarely need the Live tab alone. On the Visits tab, turn on Show team members and the team's live dots appear on top of the visit pins, the single view where "who takes the emergency call" answers itself. The reassign window uses the same live positions to suggest the three nearest techs with their distances.

Use the expand icon in the Live header at any time to fit the whole team in view.

    Have techs clock in on mobile

    A tech appears on the live map while clocked in with GPS enabled on the WorkZen mobile app.

    Open Map > Live

    Every located tech shows as a dot with their initials and a presence ring (green = active, amber = idle, gray = offline).

    Click a tech

    The popup shows their speed, last update, and their day, on site now, next visit with distance, and visits completed today.

    See everyone at once

    Use the expand icon in the Live header to fit the whole team in view.

    Combine with visits

    On the Visits tab, turn on Show team members to see techs and visit pins on one map, the fastest way to spot who is closest to a job.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The tech's phone is the tracker. While they are clocked in with GPS enabled in the WorkZen mobile app, their position updates on the live map. There is nothing to install in vehicles and no per-vehicle fee.
They must be clocked in, and GPS must be enabled for them in the mobile app. Techs who clock out disappear from the live map on purpose; WorkZen does not track people off shift.
Their current movement (speed or stationary, and when the position last updated) plus their day: whether they are on site at a visit right now, their next visit with the straight-line distance to it, and how many of today's visits they have completed.
Live team tracking is included with ZenGrow and higher plans, with no hardware add-ons. The Visits day map itself is available on every plan.
