Review and correct timesheets

ZenGrow & ZenAIIntermediate4 minutesUpdated August 16, 2026

Open Time Tracking, filter the date range, and click any completed entry to correct it. Every edit requires a reason and is stamped on the entry. Employees can edit their own entries for 7 days; managers can edit the current and previous month.

Timesheets are only useful if you trust them. WorkZen's model is simple: exact punches, corrections with reasons, and badges that show where a human or the system touched the record.

Read the timesheet

Time Tracking in the sidebar lists every entry: Date, Name, Clock In, Clock Out (or Still clocked in), Duration, and Status. Filter by employee name and date range (default: last 30 days); the summary shows total entries and total hours for the filtered period. All times display in your company timezone. Seeing the whole team requires the manage time tracking permission; otherwise you see only your own entries.

Correct an entry

Click a completed entry to open Edit Time Entry. Adjust the clock-in or clock-out, write the mandatory Reason for Edit, and save. The entry then carries an Edited badge and a "Previous Edit" line naming who changed it and when, which is the audit trail. Deleting an entry works from the same dialog and cannot be undone.

Two rules decide who can fix what:

WhoCan edit
The employee (own entries)Within 7 days of clock-in
Managers and adminsEntries from the current and previous month

An entry that is still running cannot be edited; the employee clocks out first, then the times get corrected.

Auto-closed entries

Forgot to clock out? WorkZen closes open entries automatically about two hours after your work hours end, and marks them Auto-closed. The weekly routine: filter the period, scan for the badge, open each one, set the real clock-out, and write the reason. Punches made offline on mobile keep their real time and sync when the phone reconnects.

Note

There is no submit-and-approve workflow, by design. Review and correct is the model: the badges tell you which entries were touched and why, which is what payroll actually needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no approval step in WorkZen. The working pattern is review and correct, filter the pay period, fix anything wrong (each fix requires a reason), and treat the Edited and Auto-closed badges as your audit trail.
Three common reasons. The entry is still open (clock out first; only completed entries can be edited), it is older than your edit window, or you lack the manage time tracking permission.
No. Entries record exact clock-in and clock-out times, and the summary shows the exact total. Rounding, overtime rules, and pay-period locking do not exist today; apply those in payroll.
